WE'RE GOING

This past spring I walked the Frances Route of the Camino de Santiago from St Jean Pied de Port to Santiago.  I had the time of my life and the journey truly changed me.  I met people who I truly care about and several have come to visit in our home.  Since reuniting with my wife Cathie in Madrid and since returning home, I haven't stopped talking about my walk.  At first I had no desire to walk the Camino again, but within a matter of weeks the urge to return has been foremost in my mind.  If only I could get Cathie to go with me.

After arriving in Santiago I spoke with Cathie on the phone and later when we met in Madrid.  She wanted me to share with her the feelings I had upon arriving in front of the Cathedral.  I could not put into words how I felt.  Cathie had trouble understanding my inability to express my feelings, but I knew I was not alone in this dilemma as others expressed the same inability.  I said to her, you must someday walk the Camino and then you will know.

The other day Cathie told me she wanted to walk the Camino, but in about 3 years.  Her reason for waiting was her dislike of flying.  Now I know to her this is a real problem, but by using my persuasive skills she agreed to go next year in the Spring.  (Actually she probably relented in a effort to get me to shut up.)

We have purchased the airfare, we will be allowing 45 days to complete the 484 miles plus some extra time for some exploration of Portugal and Spain.  A slower pace than My Camino, so hopefully we can enjoy some of the sights along the way and take some needed rest days.  There won't be much on the blog for the time being, but I couldn't help myself and had to make this exciting announcement.

So, follow along if you want to by entering your e-mail address in the space proved on the right side of this page.  There is also a link to my other blogs, one being about My Camino this year.  Comments are always appreciated and encouraged.
