TRYING FOR IT AGAIN, WELL MAYBE

If your a follower of this blog, then you know the past history.  If you're not let me bring you up to date.

In 2015 I walked the Camino de Santiago by myself. I was so enamored by the experience that I just knew that my lovely wife would just love the opportunity to walk across Spain with me.  It took some convincing, but she signed on with the intention of going in 2016.  Reservations made and we were going.  But then Cathie got a case of walking pneumonia and we had to cancelled our trip.  So, we opted for 2017.

We actually made it to Spain and started walking, but after about 10 days, Cathie developed a sever case of tendinitis and we had to stop walking.  We ended up spending a month in Portugal, so it wasn't a total loss.  Upon our return home we made plans to go and finish what Cathie started and head for the Camino in the spring of 2018.  Our, at least Cathie's, bad luck continued and she broke her leg.  We figured she would be fully recovered by the time of our scheduled departure, but it wasn't to be.  Cathie stayed home and I walked the Camino alone.

Fast forward to 2020 and we decided it was now or never as neither of us are spring chickens.  We made plans to leave for Spain in April.  Tickets bought and 10 days of advanced reservations on the Camino.  We've been training for about six weeks with 3 six mile walks a week under our belts.  We were gonna be ready, no more injuries or illnesses.  But, unless you've been locked in a closet somewhere, you know what happened.  Up pops the Corona Virus and we had to cancel once again.  At first we intended on going anyway, but some of our lodging reservations cancelled so the writing was on the wall.  Turns out the Spanish powers-to-be basically closed down all the Camino and it's related infrastructure.

But we're not giving up.  Luckily British Air is allowing us to change our flights without any change fee, so we're gonna try for the fall.  Reservations aren't in the bag yet, so we're keeping our fingers crossed.

To keep you entertained, here's a couple of photos of our training regimen.
